“Mae Sa Mai Royal Project Development Center” started its work in 1974 on temperate crop research and production, such as "Lychee”. Subsequently, the Mae Sa Mai Royal Project supported career development to hill tribe people to replace to opium poppy and to improve their quality of life as well as to restore and conserve natural resources and environment. The Center these days has supported vegetable and fruit production of the Hmong people and villager in order to generate farmers sustainable income. Main produces of the center such as Potato, strawberry, Avocado and Jalapeno. Present, the Hmong people of Ban Mae Sa Mai, there are about 400 households, with a population of about 2,000 people. Most people earning from "Agricultural Garden" or some people with limited land making "Circulating Crops". In 2007, Homestay business / Agricultural Tourism / Ecotourism is spread widely in Mae Rim. The people in Ban Mae Sa Mai have started to these businesses along with agriculture.
